We are so excited to announce our addition of a Guardian Home!
We have been working closely with this Guardian Home for almost 2 years now. She and her family has whelped and raised several litters with their yorkie Lizzie while using our stud Ollie. I have been homing Lizzie's pups through our breeding program and every puppy parent has had a wonderful experience with the puppies raised in their care. Lizzie is now retired however they still yearned for the joys of raising puppies.
It was a natural next step to invite them to become our Guardian Home and we feel very confident in her and her family's ability to care for some of our future litters. The Guardian family has been and will continue to follow our protocols on raising, whelping, socializing and caring for our moms, dads and pups that are in their care. We will visit the Guardian Home weekly while pups are being raised to take care of tails, dew claws, take photos, deworm, give shots and check on the general wellness and socialization of the puppies. All dogs/puppies in their care will see our veterinarian as well. Why did we decide to add a Guardian Home? In a nutshell, we realize potential clients have become increasingly aware that the best puppies come from reputable breeders whose dogs are part of the family. Most people are not morally comfortable purchasing a dog from a puppy mill or puppy store, not only because the puppy is not properly socialized before purchase, but also because of the deplorable breedings and health conditions in which the parents are forced to live. Similarly, the idea of dogs left alone in large kennels has become unattractive. This leaves reputable breeders in a predicament as to how to make sure their animals have the best possible lives while also maintaining diversity and high standards for their breeding program. We have decided the use of a Guardian Home will allow us to do this. |
What is a Guardian Home you ask? Simply put, a Guardian Home is a carefully screened home within our community where I will place potential breeding male or female dogs. This will help us accomplish several goals:
- Each dog will receive the individual love and attention they deserve.
- Dogs are not required to live in kennels and are properly socialized and well loved family pets.
- We can diversify our breeding lines by allowing more dogs to stay in our program.
- You will be required to pay the everyday costs of dog ownership such as routine vet visits and proper nutrition.
- Previous dog experience and the willingness to train in basic commands.
- Willingness and desire to help socialize puppies.
- Any other dogs of the opposite sex in the home must be spayed/neutered.
- Willingness to drop your dog off for days or weeks at a time to be bred or when it's time to whelp puppies.
- Willingness to allow the breeder to visit your home on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to check on the dog's wellbeing.
- A basic understanding of the responsibilities of owning a dog who is intact.
- Live within a 1 hour or less radius of our home.
